Shirley is the middle generation of three generation of writers. She wrote for a large Ohio newspaper and although her prose has won awards and been published, her first love is poetry and three of her poetry books have been published. She facilitated an annual poetry reading for Barnes and Noble, judged poetry contests for a poetry publication, and was co-director of the St. Augustine Writers Conference. She is a charter member of St. Johns River Branch of the National League of American Pen women.

Sharon holds a degree in creative writing from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. She is a published and award winning poet and writer of short stories and essays and is a diversified journalist having held differing positions in the field of journalism. She is charter member of St. Johns River Branch of the League of American Pen Woman.
